• We walk through the charming neighborhoods of Chiado, Rossio, and Baixa. You will pass by around 15 protected “Shops with History” (Lojas com História) — centuries-old businesses officially protected by the Portuguese government. We are the only walking tour in Lisbon that focuses on these special shops.
• You’ll step inside some of the most remarkable ones, including the world’s oldest operating bookshop (Livraria Bertrand, since 1732) and the original birthplace of Ginjinha (1840). You will also enter the beautiful 17th-century Moorish-style palace Casa do Alentejo and the historic Igreja de São Domingos, a church from 1241 that still shows the marks of the 1959 fire.
• Along the way you’ll admire iconic landmarks and stunning architecture: Elevador da Bica, Praça do Comércio by the river, Rossio Square, colorful tile work, cobblestone streets, statues, and scenic river views.
